Epicatechin is a natural flavanol found in green tea and dark chocolate, offering both health and performance benefits.
Epicatechin helps muscle growth by inhibiting myostatin. Myostatin is a myokine protein that regulates muscle growth at all stages of your life, and its purpose is to prevent your muscles from growing uncontrollably; So people with very low natural myostatin tend to be more muscular. Some animals are even born with a defective myostatin gene, try looking up "Wendy the bully whippet" and see what we are talking about.
Epicatechin does not block myostatin directly, but instead stimulates follistatin, another protein. Follistatin then blocks myostatin, leading to increased muscle growth and strength.
We have also added BioPerine®, a patented version of black pepper extract that helps the bioavailability of epicatechin.
